Between a 2-stroke engine and a 4-stroke engine, which is a better buy?  It will depend on your intended purpose for the cart.  If you want to save on money and your sole purpose is so that you will avoid walking long distances while golfing, then a 2-stroke cart will do.  But if you want to use it for other purposes and can afford a more expensive cart, then a 4-stroke cart will do. 

Another consideration that you need to take when buying a gas-powered golf cart is the quality of the parts. Not all golf cart manufacturers are the same. Make sure that you bring along someone who knows a little about cars. Ask him to take a look at the engine, the wirings and cables, the golf cart seat covers, the air filter and other parts the car. Check if there are water leaks.  

Many manufacturers give you a warranty for the golf cart.  Take advantage of this.  Test-drive the golf cart before you buy it. 

The last and the most important is the price. Shop around first before you buy a gas golf cart.
